Open call for 8th graphic arts exhibition and competition

Miniprint Finland 2014 organized by Graphic Artist Association of Lahti and Hyvinkää Art Museum, Finland.

Jurying will take place in two stages. Electronically sent images (Stage 1) will be Juried and the chosen artists will be informed and asked to send their original artworks for the final selection (Stage 2) .


Participation for the first stage is free. Registration fee,
for artists selected to Stage 2, is 40 €. This covers the
handling costs of the parcels.

The exhibition is open to all artists. This year there will
be two separate categories: The common category consists
of the traditional printing techniques, including monoprint
methods and digitally printed works. The second category
is the Ex libris category.



Common category

The theme is “Infinity - ∞”, it refers to something unbounded,
without any limit. It has different meaning in fields science like
mathematics, philosophy or theology. It can be interpreted in
conceptual ways.


Ex libris (bookplates) category

The Latin words ex libris freely translated means: My book /
a book from my shelf / Belongs to my library. There is no specific
theme in ex libris category. The themes on the bookplates very
often describe things that are important in the life of the owner
of the book, i.e. profession, hobbies, neighbourhood, family,

Send no more than 3 artworks.

Size limits

Original artwork’s size should not exceed 20 × 17 × 5 cm. If the work is attached to a background cardboard, it should be exactly 35 × 30 cm in size.

Entry fee

For electronic Stage 1 there is no entry fee. Entry fee for Stage 2 is 40 € (Please note, banks take their commission fees for money transfer). The fee for Stage 2 covers a part of handling the artworks, jurying and return postage.

When selected to the stage 2, artists will be given detailed instructions for the money transfer and sending the original art works to be juried.

  • Popular prize 500 € – “Spectators’ favourite” voted by the visitors of the exhibition

Important dates

  • 15th September 2013 Deadline for Stage 1 (electronic)
  • 30th September 2013 Results will be announced online
  • 31st October 2013 Deadline for Stage 2 (originals)
    (Parcels should arrive in Lahti by this
    date, postal stamp is NOT enough)
  • 29th November 2013 The final selections of the Jury will
    be published online end of November.

Stage 1

Sending the proposals
Please send the completed participation form along with the
images of your work (max 3) before 15th September 2013 to:

Each image should be jpeg format, 72dpi resolution and not exceed 1M in size.



Stage 2

Sending the original artworks
Artists selected for Stage 2 will be notified personally and
further guided how to send their original artworks for jurying.

Artists whose works are selected for the Stage 2 are informed by
email. Results of the Stage 1 will also be published on the website:
by the end of September.



An online catalogue will be published (1 artwork / Artist). If possible, the organizers will publish a printed catalogue of the exhibition including one photo of artwork from each selected artist.



Chosen artists for the main exhibition

Names of selected artists will be published online:
after the Jury’s decision (29th November).

All selected artists will be informed by email. All prize winners,
as well as the honourable mentioned artists will be notified also
by traditional mail. The prize winners will be announced to the public and media on the opening day of the exhibition. The popular prize winner, voted by the exhibition visitors will be
published after the exhibition is over.

Excluded works from the exhibition will be returned after the jury’s decision before 15th January 2014 at the expense of the organizer. The Jury’s decision cannot be reclaimed. The awarded graphic prints will become property of Graphic Artist Association of Lahti.



The organizers will take 30 % commission fee in case of selling the prints from the exhibition. Although all the prints will be handled with maximum care, the voluntary insurance can be taken by the artist.

The unsold exhibited prints will be returned within three
months from the closing date of the exhibition. Meanwhile also
the payment of sold works will be transferred into the artists
bank accounts.

By sending the participation form, the artist will accept these rules of the competition.
